	In 1996 saw the birth of the project for the construction of one of the most important distilleries within the teritory of Cuba, and with the use of the latest technology situates the distillery as one of the most modern in the world. "Alcoholes Finos de Caña" arose from an initial idea of Cuban enterprises with participation from Spanish entities. Within the group there is available the knowhow and experience of operating in the spirits sector, along with the richness of the cuban soil, the production of sugar cane, their modern transport infrastructure make a perfect combination to produce alcohol of the highest quality using sugar cane.
The process for the production of alcohol using sugar cane, is based on the properties of some micro-organisms to metabolise sugars forming a residue of ethyl alcohol. As this alcohol is produced in low concentrations it is necessary to eliminate the water portion by distillation. In order to bring about this biological process, on an industrial scale a series of operations have to be performed which can be grouped together in 3 sections :- Mash Preparation Fermentation Distilation-Rectification. With a capacity to produce 50,000 lts. per day in the first year of operation, with previsions to increase to 90,000 lts per day. Which will put ALFICSA as the leading alcohol producer in Cuba in new milenium aswell as one of the most important producers in the whole carribean area.
